Isaiah states: “At that time the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. For waters will burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert plain. ” The question is: When might this come to be? Jehovahs Witnesses have been convinced that the prophecy has already been fulfilled – upon them. Witnesses believe that God opens the eyes of the blind and the ears of the deaf primarily by means of the Bible study program and publications of the Watchtower Society. In fact, the Watchtower Society itself is believed to be the so-called “spiritual paradise” and the “Way of Holiness” described in the 35 th chapter of Isaiah. It is for the very reason that Jehovahs Witnesses are laboring under this “deluding influence” that Christ is obligated to open their blinded eyes and unstop their ears when he arrives in his glory. Consider a few pertinent facts to follow. Since the prophecy is situated in the context of God releasing the chastened Jews from their captivity to Babylon, the Society has been compelled to fabricate an elaborate myth of how the grander fulfillment came about when God released the International Bible Students from their babylonish bondage back in 1918-1919. According to the Watchtower Jehovahs servants were killed by the nations back during the First World War, although in reality not one International Bible Student was killed. But because eight of the Societys officers were arrested and briefly incarcerated, including J. F. Rutherford, in the ensuing decades the Watchtower has tirelessly promoted the delusion that the Bible Students were taken captive to Babylon the Great and that Jehovah performed a mighty miracle of deliverance by springing Rutherford and company from the Atlanta penitentiary after they had served a few months of their sentences. But consider this: The prophecy of Isaiah depicts those whom God sets free from Babylon and who enter on the Way of Holiness as entering in to a state of “unending joy. ” For example, Isaiah 35:10 states: “Those redeemed by Jehovah will return and come to Zion with a joyful cry. Unending joy will crown their heads. Exultation and rejoicing will be theirs, and grief and sighing will flee away. ” Even in the initial fulfillment of the prophecy the repatriated Jews faced many challenges and hardships. So, it is evident that it is really speaking to a much grander reality. But can it honestly be said that Jehovahs Witnesses do not suffer grief and sigh over various calamities that befall them? To underscore the point, shortly after the First World War ended Jehovahs Witnesses in Europe were subjected to persecution by the Nazis. Surely, no one will be so unreasonable as to claim that those many Witnesses who courageously stood up to Hitler were not also made to grieve and sigh because of their afflictions. Besides, how could it be said that the post-WWI Bible Students were crowned with “unending joy, ” when that entire generation has long-since passed away in death? Is it not more reasonable to recognize that the passage cited above applies to the sons of the kingdom being welcomed into the heavenly Zion, symbolizing their acceptance into the kingdom of Christ? And it also harmonizes with what Revelation 21 states regarding God wiping out every tear from the eyes of those who are blessed to live under the rule of the New Jerusalem? Although in the real fulfillment the Jews left Babylon en mass and traveled back to Jerusalem to rebuild the city and the temple, according to the Watchtower fable, although the Bible Students were supposedly released from Babylon the Great back then, for the past nearly 100 years people have continually gotten out of Babylon individually, by merely withdrawing from any church affiliation and becoming baptized as Jehovahs Witnesses. Of course, growing numbers of Jehovahs Witnesses have parents and even grandparents who are Jehovahs Witnesses, so they can hardly heed the command to “get out of her my people. ” As regards the “Way of Holiness” Isaiah declares: “Yes, a way called the Way of Holiness. The unclean one will not travel on it. It is reserved for the one walking on the way; no one foolish will stray onto it. No lion will be there, and no vicious wild beasts will come on it. They will not be found there…” As a stark example of the blindness that presently grips Jehovahs Witnesses, despite the fact that tens of thousands of children of Jehovahs Witnesses parents have been raped, molested or otherwise sexually abused by cunning predators in the congregations, the Watchtower actually states that no animalistic, foolish, or spiritually unclean persons exist in their spiritual paradise – or if there are any they are swiftly expelled. If any of Jehovahs Witnesses dare question such an untenable teaching they are certain to be bullied and intimidated by elders who are charged by Bethel to enforce the delusion. It is, in fact, virtually impossible to reason with any member of the Governing Body or any man of any spiritual stature within the organization. They are absolutely blind and deaf. They have no insight – no vision. They are lame and mute – not being able to stand on their own without the Watchtower crutch or speak clear and reasonably on prophecies such as this. So, it is they who must be cured of their spiritual blindness and deafness. After all, “Who is blind except my servant, so deaf as the messenger I send? Who is so blind as the one rewarded, so blind as the servant of Jehovah? ” HOW WILL THIS COME ABOUT? fusion_builder_column] Hence, as you associate with a congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses, you are with people who have become more peaceable and pleasant. Clearly, we enjoy a spiritual condition that we rightly call a spiritual paradise. That event will bring about the breakdown of the Societys highly raised wall and discredit the stupid prophets beyond repair. “Therefore this is what the Holy One of Israel says: ‘Since you reject this word and you trust in fraud and deceit and you rely on these, so this error will be for you like a broken wall, like a bulging high wall ready to fall. It will crash suddenly, in an instant. It will be broken like a large potters jar, so completely smashed that no fragment among its pieces will be left to rake the fire from the fireplace or to scoop water from a puddle. ”   – Isaiah 30:12-14 The emergency conditions brought on by war and financial collapse will most likely lead to the imposition of martial law in America and the suspension of basic liberties, at which point the work of Jehovahs Witnesses in its present form will cease. And because mystery Babylon will still exist then, Jehovah will allow the harlot to prevail for a short while, bringing Christs congregation into captivity to Babylon the Great. That is why in the previous chapter of Isaiah God declared his intention to intervene in the “legal case over Zion, ” and why Isaiah 35:4 offers this exhortation to the future captives: “Say to those who are anxious at heart: ‘Be strong. Do not be afraid. Look! Your own God will come with vengeance, God will come with retribution. He will come and save you. ” But why would Jehovah allow the leaders of his people to mislead them? Indeed, if the Governing Body is the faithful slave how is it possible for them to be in such a state of blindness that only Christs powerful presence can open their eyes? There are several reasons. One, people have an ingrained tendency to follow men. Jehovahs Witnesses are no exception. Consider the fact that in the first century Paul sternly rebuked some of the anointed Corinthians who boasted of being followers of Paul, some of Cephas, and still others followed Apollos. Paul was compelled to remind them that he did not die for them not were any baptized in the name of Paul. But has the Governing Body followed the apostles example in this regard? There is no evidence to point to in the affirmative. On the contrary, the leadership of the Society and the elders constantly lavish praise upon the Governing Body and the faithful slave and speak of them in reverent tones. And it is noteworthy that for the past few decades all persons baptized as Jehovahs Witnesses have been compelled to also declare that they recognize that they belong to Gods “spirit-directed organization. ” But even if the Watchtower Society is “Gods spirit-directed organization” and his channel of communication, was not Paul an inspired apostle who even had the unspeakable privilege of being the only Christian to have seen Christ after his ascension to heaven? And was not Peter (Cephas) one of Jesus most beloved apostles, who was at his side during his entire ministry and who also was inspired to utter Gods words? Yet, they did not accept the glory and praise from fellow believers, as does the leadership of Jehovahs Witnesses. It is not as though individual men are idolized now. It is the organization itself. If you are one of Jehovahs Witnesses you know what I am saying is true. I may even be understating the importance that is placed upon the Organization. But ask yourself, which is easier, to follow men or to follow God? Obviously, it is much easier to follow men. And the Watchtower makes it easy to do so – it is all laid out for you. But this generation of Jehovahs Witnesses has never really faced a test of faith – not like the Bible Students in the USA back in the run-up to WWII, or Jehovahs Witnesses in Germany and throughout Europe who faced the Nazi Holocaust. Certainly not like the first century Christians, many of which faced ferocious lions in the arenas. But the test is coming. And the test God will impose upon Jehovahs Witnesses will require them to abandon the Watchtower. From Jehovahs standpoint the Watchtower is an idol. It has presumptuously taken Gods glory to itself – profaning the name of Jehovah in doing so. That is what idolatry is. For instance, the Watchtower claims that no one but it can understand the Bible. Yet, much of what it teaches as regards prophecy is nonsensical and cannot possibly be true. But even so, the idol is exalted as the Knower of all things. For that reason Jehovah has allowed them to be blind and deaf, in order to discredit them and humble the idolaters. Consider the following words of God that speak to a future day of reckoning with his people, when God will dispatch Christ as the Refiner and open the eyes of the blind: “Because I knew how stubborn you are —That your neck is an iron sinew and your forehead is copper — I told you long ago. Before it came about, I caused you to hear it, so that you could not say, ‘My idol did this; my carved image and my metal image commanded this. You have heard and seen all of this. Will you not declare it? From now on I am announcing new things to you, guarded secrets that you have not known. Only now are they being created, and not long ago, things that you never heard before today, so that you cannot say, ‘Look! I already know them. No, you have not heard, you have not known, and in the past your ears were not opened. For I know that you are very treacherous, and you have been called a transgressor from birth. But for the sake of my name I will hold back my anger; for my own praise I will restrain myself toward you, and I will not do away with you. Look! I have refined you, but not in the form of silver. I have tested you in the smelting furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake I will act, for how could I let myself be profaned? I give my glory to no one else. ” – Isaiah 48 The coming of Christ is a “closely guarded secret. ” Not only the timing of his arrival, which no man knows the day or hour, but the nature of it and its intended purpose; thus, an unveiling – an apocalypse, a revelation and manifestation is coming. The Watchtower Society has, as Jehovah states in Isaiah, shown itself to be very treacherous in many ways. But God intends to correct, refine and restore by means of the fire of affliction, so that ultimately his purpose will be accomplished. We may be certain that no human agency, no earthly organization, will be involved in the process. Christ will intervene directly. And afterwards the holy spirit will be poured out in full measure – as never before. That is the meaning of the symbolism in prophecy regarding the waters and streams that will come upon the thirsty ground. “For waters will burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert plain. The heat-parched ground will become a reedy pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water. ”.

November 21st, 2009 by Gregg Senko Upon the conclusion of 2009, some of us staff here at Why So Blu will be compiling our own unique top-ten lists of our favorite films this year.  The Blind Side will be on mine.  This absolutely brilliant piece of work was not from the thought factory of some Hollywood writers or producers.  Instead, this very real and very touching story is the product of none other than life itself.   Starring Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw and last but certainly not least, Quinton Aaron, The Blind Side is a 2-hour, 6-minute piece of art that will have you laughing, frowning, smiling, cheering and maybe even a little choked up. Aaron plays Michael Oher (pronounced like an ‘oar on a boat) a kid whos a bit of a recluse who frequently finds himself with no place to go.  Leigh Anne Touhy (Sandra Bullock) and her husband Sean (Tim McGraw) find a rain-soaked ‘Big Mike Oher roaming the streets one cold night in search of a warm place to stay.  Leigh Anne, being the God-fearing Christian woman she is, extends an offer for Michael to stay at the Touhy residence that night.  However, the immediate problem isnt just a bedless Oher, but minding his absolutely abysmal grade point average and coaxing him to come out of his anti-social shell, with football helping out a little in all these areas.  Let me stop right here for a moment and provide you with a bit of instruction.  If you ever hear anyone say this movie is about football, I want to go over to them, turn them around, and proceed to boot them out of the room with one swift kick.  If anybody thinks this is a football movie, then they have totally missed the whole point of this film. Next, let me get this minor detail off my chest…Good God does Sandra Bullock look amazingly beautiful.  Nevertheless, her good looks are rivaled only by her great acting.  I will go as far to say that this was the best performance of her career.  I truly enjoy her movies, but this one in particular is solid all the way around, as is her ability to deliver her character with convincing realism.  I was curious how country singer Tim McGraw would do in front of the camera but any pre-conceived concerns of mine were quickly dispatched.  The man did a fine job in his role and this just goes to show how multi-talented he really is.  As for Quinton Aaron, I just know that some will look at his role and think, “He didnt have to say anything.  How hard is that? ”  While it is true that Michael Oher is (or at least was) a man of few words,  Aaron faced the daunting task of making his actions relay emotion without giving it away through words.  In addition, he also had to let the audience inside his head, again, without speaking about what was on his mind so you could get some grasp on his troubled past.  No worries.  Quinton Aaron did it all with ease. The Blind Side is a movie that has many messages woven throughout its delivery without preaching them.  This makes such messages much more visible and palatable for the audience as they envelop what they are watching.  There is the quality of being a hard worker, the ethical path of doing the right thing, and lastly, standing up in the face of discouragement and intimidation.  Michael Oher would never be where hes at today if he never got up after being knocked down.  The story takes viewers on an entertaining journey through trial and tribulation as well as a good share of laughs and milestones.  It will tug on your heart strings and show a dark side of life that many of us turn a blind eye to.  It will also show you that you reap what you sew and you can damn well bet I got a little misty-eyed at this films closure.  I commend the real life Touhys for their patience, their aid and their courage to lend a helping hand to a complete stranger.  They are the definition of ‘good people.      I also tip my hat to John Lee Hancock, for if it were not for his directing abilities, this story would have never been told with such flare on screen as I witnessed tonight.

Jackson It has been said that where there is no vision, the people perish. However, for 64 year old Michael G. Jackson, the founder of The Crash Prevention Network – a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives on the highways and providing support for the surviving loved ones of fatal crashes – this is not entirely true. Mike Jackson is totally blind. Mike was born with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic eye condition that inhibits ones sight early in life and then ultimately leads to incurable blindness. Growing up, he witnessed his fathers own struggle with the disease and experienced firsthand the hardships it brought on his large family. This plagued Mike with fear and he knew that an enormous battle would have to be fought if he were to have even a normal life. But encouragement was hard to find. One of his elementary school teachers sent a note home to his parents once saying, “Dont expect much from Michael. He just cant keep up with the other children. ” Seeing the note by accident, Mike said it felt like “someone had driven a dagger through my heart. ” But instead of having what would have been a very understandable pity party, Mike found himself angry and determined to turn a heart breaking experience into something motivational; however, as his sight grew increasingly worse, his boyhood aspirations faded as well. “To a young man, driving a car is as much of a dream as playing professional sports” says Mike, “But I knew my chances of being able to do so were slim; and this devastated me as a teenager – especially one who wanted to date! ” Mike did get to drive; however, the experience was short lived when, at the age of 19, his poor eyesight rendered him no longer eligible for a license. “It was like being given a death sentence! ” Mike says. However, the day proved bittersweet because it was that evening, when he and his best friend were double dating, that Mike went out with Janice for the first time. So his sad day ended on a pleasant note and proved even more memorable as Janice later became Mikes wife and mother to their daughter. As a young husband and father, it was Mikes struggles that taught him that determination and persistence could produce results. But as his ability to see worsened, he found himself wondering how he was going to support his family. He even considered utilizing a. 38 pistol on himself so they could benefit financially, but he soon realized that fear was leaving his judgment more clouded than his sight. So Mike surrounded himself with proactive people and built solid friendships that contributed greatly to his life. “For me it was either stay home and accomplish nothing, or be happy, ” says Mike, “so I chose to take all the blessings that God offered and pay no attention to the negative side of life. ” It had taken years, but Mike had won his personal battle. However, just as his visual world went completely dark, a public battle was just beginning. On December 1 st, 1989, the hopeful life of sixteen year old Allison Gannon was tragically brought to an end at the hands of a drunk driver who had already been convicted of a DWI. As the news spread, a public outcry followed, one that The Charlotte Observer would later report was a catalyst for change as “Neighbor Mike Jackson left Gannons funeral determined to do something about the problem. ” On January 23 rd, 1990, less than two months after Allisons death, Mike formed the first Mothers Against Drunk Driving chapter in his county with 83 volunteers. In his first year, highway deaths declined from a yearly average of 31 to 13; and in later years that number dropped to 9. Mike also formed 19 additional chapters, became Vice Chairman for his states M. A. D. program, and was heavily involved in legislation that helped get the legal drinking age raised to 21, the legal blood alcohol level lowered from. 10 to. 08, and the seatbelt law passed. However during his tenure, Mike became aware that there were other highway issues besides just drinking and driving. “Drunk driving gets all the publicity when it comes to highway deaths, ” says Mike, “So I needed to open the eyes of the public when it came to speed (which is the number one killer) seat belt use, and the dangers of texting and driving. ” So, after 15 years of dedicated work and multiple awards for his service, Mike left M. and formed the National Angel Protection Program which later became The Crash Prevention Network, an organization focused on highway safety in all capacities. “Forty-four percent of the time passengers are the ones who are killed in accidents, ” Mike says, “so everyone is at risk. You could be a fatality today because of somebody elses lack of awareness and poor decision making. ” Garnering the support of District Attorneys and Judges, Mike developed a monthly courthouse program called The Right Choice. The highway safety course is attended by people who have committed minor traffic violations and been ordered there by the courts, but the program is more than a court-mandated class. “When our participants show up, they admittedly dont want to be there, ” says Mike. “But by the time a surviving victim of a highway tragedy shares his or her personal story, the whole atmosphere changes. Then, as attendees leave, many of them will take the extra minute to express their gratefulness for what we are doing. And that is when you know you have gotten into somebodys heart, and that is where change occurs”. In addition, Mikes organization sponsors community outreach programs built around school proms, youth groups and young people in general. It is his desire that every child knows that somebody loves them and their safety is important. He also speaks directly to parents reminding them that, “Your child may never touch alcohol or drugs, or ever speed. But if they are given a cellphone that they can text on while driving, it can cost them their life in a matter of seconds. ” Mike entertains neighborhood kids with his walking cane.
